Top ten MAC Bridal Lipsticks
My top ten bridal makeup lipsticks.
I have compiled a list of my go-to wedding makeup lipsticks. They are all MAC and I have chosen a range of shades and textures that I know work well for brides and many of my clients continue to wear their wedding day lip colour long after the wedding day. The lipstick shade you choose for your wedding can alter the whole look of your wedding day makeup so it’s important to get it right and feel comfortable wearing it. Choosing a lipstick is a personal choice for the bride. I choose a colour combination that I think will complement the rest of the bridal makeup I have applied. Then I normally choose a slightly different shade of lipstick just to confirm the bride is happy with her choice. And even suggest looking in the makeup stores to see if there is any other lipstick she wants to try or even an old favourite that she can’t live without.
I worked for MAC for many years so I know and love all of the shades I have picked out. MAC has one of if not the biggest shade range of all the contemporary makeup brands. These ten colours are all still available at MAC at the time of writing this blog, and they have been a staple in my bridal makeup kit for many years. They are not in order of preference.
1. Peach Blossom:
This is a great moisturising lipstick it is a peachy nude that suits all skin tones and have used it on several brides. Particularly brides who want a light coral tone to the lips without being overpowering. I like to match with MAC Boldly Bare lip liner for a more natural look. Or Lasting Sensation lip liner for a peachy look.
2. Ravishing:
One of my favourite lip colours in general. It has a lovely warm undertone without being overpowering. It is a brighter coral than Peach Blossom. I have used Ravishing on my fairest brides and also brides with a more golden medium skin tone. Again I use Boldly Bare lip liner to line the lips helping the lipstick to last longer.
3. Angel:
Angel is a classic bridal makeup lip colour that I have been using on my bridal clients for years. It’s a Pink but not a baby Pink. So perfect if you want a Pink but a neutral Pink that doesn’t distract from the rest of your wedding makeup look. Any bride that has never tried a pink lipstick I suggest them to try this colour. They always love it! The texture is creamy and moisturising without being too matte. But is still opaque. I don’t really use a lip liner with this as I prefer the colour by itself. It has a slight pearlised sheen but not 1980s pearlised. It works really well with a small amount of clear lip gloss over the top.
4. Kinda Sexy:
This is such a great colour for a bridal makeup look. It’s a matte lipstick that is creamy but not dry on the lips. It’s a nude tone with a warm almost peachy undertone and on the brown side so great if you are not wearing too much eye makeup but want to give the whole look a bit more colour. I use Oak lip liner for more of a brown nude shade and more definition or MAC Stripdown for more of a nude lip. I wear Kinda Sexy myself on a night out when I’m doing a brown smokey eye and want colour on my lips without looking washed out.
5. Hug Me
his has been in my bridal makeup kit for years and is still so popular and a classic MAC lipstick. Its suits so many people with all different skin tones and makeup styles. Any bride who wants to wear lipstick but not look like they are wearing lipstick this is the perfect shade for you. It’s a lovely creamy texture it’s moisturising and still has a great colour payoff. I normally use Boldly Bare or Stripdown lip liners to enhance the toffee brown tones of Hug Me. If you want a pink-brown lipstick this is the perfect shade for you.
6. Lady Danger
Lady Danger is my all-time favourite MAC Red Lipstick. It is an orangey-red lipstick so great on most skin tones but particularly great if you have a cool undertone to your skin. I wear this when I want a bright statement lipstick and looks amazing winter and summer. I use Lady Danger when my bride wants a red lipstick but doesn’t want a blue undertone red like Ruby Woo. Lady Danger is matte and lasts ages. It goes on perfectly from the bullet. But I use a brush when applying the lipstick to my brides. A great lip liner to pair with this is Redd or Lasting Sensation.
7. Runway Hit
Runway Hit lipstick is another personal favourite of mine. I wear this when I want to wear a lipstick that is more than a nude but not too bright. It’s a matte coral without being too orange or too pink. It looks amazing on all skin tones if you are fairer it will come up as a bright pink coral on medium to darker skin tones can look quite nude without being too muddy or brown. I love Boldly Bare lip liner with this. I choose Runway Hit for any bride that is not afraid of colour or to look like they are wearing lipstick.
8. Mocha
Mocha is a creamy formula and has a soft cushiony feel. It’s an opaque warm brown and great if you are a bride that wants a nude or a Brown that has a warm undertone. It’s particularly great on medium to darker skin tones. Whirl lip liner works well or to bring out more of the orange undertone Auburn is perfect.
9. Cherish
Cherish was one of the first MAC lipsticks I ever bought. It’s such a great versatile colour and can be blended with different lip liners to create your own shade of lipstick. Cherish is a soft muted peachy beige and also great to wear on its own if you want the perfect nude. It’s a creamy satin finish without being too matte or too shiny. Stripdown lip liner works amazingly well with Cherish. Many of my brides who have gone for a smokey eye have chosen Cherish as their wedding day lipstick.
10. See Sheer
See Sheer is the perfect coral lipstick that is as the name suggests more of a sheer lipstick. With a lovely creamy balmy feel on the lips is great for any bride looking to have a peachy coral lipstick that has just a hint of colour. I like to apply lasting sensation lip liner all over the lips to help the lipstick last longer.
